Sponsor a Child with Us

Sponsoring a child is a personal way to show God’s love to a child in need.
For $39 per month, you’ll help that child and other vulnerable children in their community to stand tall, free from poverty.

CHILD SPONSORSHIP

Education has a dramatic effect on the quality of a child’s life. Childhood is also a pivotal time to instill a spiritual foundation in Christ. This combination produces godly leaders who will become instruments of change in their countries. Yet more than 115 million 6 to 12-year-olds in the developing world are not in school. Three-fifths of them are girls. An additional 150 million start school but don’t finish.

Your sponsorship will provide:

Education

School fees

Books and other materials

Bible and spiritual mentorship

Transportation to and from school

In most cases, uniforms, medical care, and food

How to sponsor a child in need

Your monthly gift of $39 will give your sponsored child access to life-changing benefits like medical care, educational support, life skills, and job training before graduation.

As a sponsor, you can see the impact of your support firsthand through letters and photos from your child. You can even visit!

Use the search tool to find a special child waiting for a sponsor like you!

Children with the “Most Needy” flag face the least stable living circumstances and fewest material comforts.

Child Sponsorship FAQs

Most frequent questions and answers

Child Sponsorship ensures that your sponsored child is able to attend school, remain within their family’s care, receive healthy meals to fuel their studies, and save for their future education. Our sponsorship ideal also means a portion of your monthly support will allow Bring up a child ministry Uganda( BCMU) to implement life changing programs for children in need in Uganda.

Yes! You can sponsor as many children as you like!

The minimum amount to sponsor a child is $39 a month. Monthly sponsorship opportunities are also available at $50, $60 and $80 per month. You are also welcome to fully sponsor a child’s education. Please reach out to us if you’d like to learn more.

Our sponsorship ideal uses a portion of your monthly support which will allow BCMU to implement life changing programs for children in need in Uganda. These programs help us break the cycle of an orphan by improving child welfare, Spiritual welfare, strengthening disadvantaged families, and mentoring orphans aging out so they can reach their full potential.  These are just a few examples of the unbelievable work happening around Ugandan communities thanks to amazing sponsors like you!

We understand the realities of individual financial situations. If you need to discontinue your child sponsorship, we will work to identify another person to take your place in supporting your sponsored child.  We also invite you to participate in that process by advocating with family, friends, and co-workers to help to identify a new sponsor for the child you support!

Our prayer is that many children BCMU supports through sponsorship will rise out of poverty and no longer need the assistance of a sponsorship program. Should this happen, we will notify you about the change in your child’s circumstances and will happily reassign your sponsorship to another child in need of sponsorship support. Your ongoing support can have a lifelong impact on the lives of many vulnerable children in Uganda.

In addition to the knowledge that you are truly intervening for the one and the many, sponsors receive:

  • The ability to correspond with your sponsored child.
  • A special update and photos, videos of your sponsored child twice or more every year.
  • A special video greeting from your sponsored child each year.
  • The option to send a Christmas gift and greeting to your sponsored child.
  • Receive a receipt for tax deductions on any monthly donations
  • The joy of knowing you are changing a child’s life forever!

You can help others learn more about the life-changing effects of sponsoring a child by becoming an official BCMU Diplomat! BCMU’s Diplomats are a team of passionate advocates who are willing to invite friends, families and communities to learn more about the needs of orphaned children around the world and how they too can become a sponsor.  BCMU Diplomats may host small events, post on social media or team up with our BCMU sponsorship team to find new ways to spread the word about children in need of sponsorship support. Please contact us to learn more about how you can become a BCMU Diplomat!

For every sponsorship dollar you contribute, 85 per cents goes directly to BCMU’s sponsorship program! The remaining 15 per cents goes toward administrative costs.

Depending on your sponsorship level, 6, 18, or 30 additional children receive life-changing support opportunities annually thanks to your sponsorship contribution! These allow us to break the cycle of poverty for these children by uplifting home cares, intervening for at-risk children so they never enter an institution, and helping young people living in institutions to attend college so they can grow into independent, successful adults. Through your sponsorship, you’re intervening for these additional kids in addition to continuing to change the life of your current sponsored child.

Sponsorship Diplomats are passionate sponsors who are committed to advocating for the vulnerable children within BCMU’s sponsorship programs. Driven to broaden their impact of sponsorship, Diplomats invite friends, families and communities to learn more about the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda. By empowering others to become sponsors, Diplomats help to ensure that children around the world can remain within their family’s loving care, continue their education, and ultimately break the cycle of poverty.
