Our History

Bring Up A Child Ministry Uganda started in 2018. But the idea for the ministry was birthed in 2009. Along the way, we saw a lot: little children, teenagers, young adults, mothers, and the elderly in Kikabala, Nakavule, and Namuganza, Bugiri District; all going without education, food, clothes, medication, clean water, school materials, shelter and more. We saw these challenges, and they touched our hearts.

We felt that these vulnerable groups needed God’s love. They needed to know who God is, what He’s done and continues to do for them. William Waiswa was born with a passion for evangelism, a desire to share the Gospel.

He saw the plight of the people in Bugiri as an opportunity to reach lost souls. He began his mission by gathering children and the youth at Nakavule Lutheran church and school, one of our local partner churches and schools.

He revealed to them the true love of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, certain that only God could bring true change to their lives.

His parents and Siblings, always open to sharing Christ’s love, joined William in this daring endeavor, using their gifts to reach out to desperate communities.

They continue to volunteer their time and resources to the ministry, ready and willing to assist whenever the need arises. Their generosity has given us the impetus to work harder, reach more vulnerable men and women, and transform this country.

Today, Bring Up A Child Ministry continually pursues the theme, “touching lives with the hand of Christ,” revealed in Matthew 25: 35, 40. Our success is rooted in our desire to glorify God, making his name known among the suffering masses.

Child Sponsorship ensures that your sponsored child is able to attend school, remain within their family’s care, receive healthy meals to fuel their studies, and save for their future education. Our sponsorship ideal also means a portion of your monthly support will allow Bring up a child ministry Uganda( BCMU) to implement life changing programs for children in need in Uganda.

Yes! You can sponsor as many children as you like!

The minimum amount to sponsor a child is $39 a month. Monthly sponsorship opportunities are also available at $50, $60 and $80 per month. You are also welcome to fully sponsor a child’s education. Please reach out to us if you’d like to learn more.

We understand the realities of individual financial situations. If you need to discontinue your child sponsorship, we will work to identify another person to take your place in supporting your sponsored child.  We also invite you to participate in that process by advocating with family, friends, and co-workers to help to identify a new sponsor for the child you support!

Our prayer is that many children BCMU supports through sponsorship will rise out of poverty and no longer need the assistance of a sponsorship program. Should this happen, we will notify you about the change in your child’s circumstances and will happily reassign your sponsorship to another child in need of sponsorship support. Your ongoing support can have a lifelong impact on the lives of many vulnerable children in Uganda.

In addition to the knowledge that you are truly intervening for the one and the many, sponsors receive:

  • The ability to correspond with your sponsored child.
  • A special update and photos, videos of your sponsored child twice or more every year.
  • A special video greeting from your sponsored child each year.
  • The option to send a Christmas gift and greeting to your sponsored child.
  • Receive a receipt for tax deductions on any monthly donations
  • The joy of knowing you are changing a child’s life forever!

You can help others learn more about the life-changing effects of sponsoring a child by becoming an official BCMU Diplomat! BCMU’s Diplomats are a team of passionate advocates who are willing to invite friends, families and communities to learn more about the needs of orphaned children around the world and how they too can become a sponsor.  BCMU Diplomats may host small events, post on social media or team up with our BCMU sponsorship team to find new ways to spread the word about children in need of sponsorship support. Please contact us to learn more about how you can become a BCMU Diplomat!

For every sponsorship dollar you contribute, 85 per cents goes directly to BCMU’s sponsorship program! The remaining 15 per cents goes toward administrative costs.

Depending on your sponsorship level, 6, 18, or 30 additional children receive life-changing support opportunities annually thanks to your sponsorship contribution! These allow us to break the cycle of poverty for these children by uplifting home cares, intervening for at-risk children so they never enter an institution, and helping young people living in institutions to attend college so they can grow into independent, successful adults. Through your sponsorship, you’re intervening for these additional kids in addition to continuing to change the life of your current sponsored child.

Sponsorship Diplomats are passionate sponsors who are committed to advocating for the vulnerable children within BCMU’s sponsorship programs. Driven to broaden their impact of sponsorship, Diplomats invite friends, families and communities to learn more about the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda. By empowering others to become sponsors, Diplomats help to ensure that children around the world can remain within their family’s loving care, continue their education, and ultimately break the cycle of poverty.
